Cuban doctors working in Kenya who were abducted by Al-Shabaab from Mandera last year have been released from captivity by terror group Al-Shabab.

This is according to the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, who made the announcement via his official Twitter page.

The two doctors, Assel Herrera, and Landy Rodriguez were kidnapped from the Kenyan border town in April 2019.

The morning incident took place near the border with Somalia after armed assailants blocked an official car ferrying Dr. Rodríguez, a surgeon, and Dr. Herrera to the hospital where they worked.

The two were part of a 100-member Cuban medical brigade that was working in Kenya under an agreement between the two countries.
