Like all South Sudanese across this country, I am shocked and saddened by the heartless murder of innocent children at Rock City residential area in Juba on August 1st, 2020. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the parents of the children, rock city residents, residents of Juba and all South Sudanese who are grappling with the magnitude of this crime.

The pain and trauma inflicted on us by the perpetrator(s) of this crime is enormous, but we, as a country, will prevail. We will work tirelessly to make this criminal pay dearly for this heinous crime.

To this effect, I am directing law enforcement agencies to use every tool in their disposal towards expeditious apprehension and trial of the suspect(s) in this unjustifiable murder. I would also like to appeal to the members of the public who may know something about this case to support investigations by passing information to the police to help them solve this barbaric act.

As we mourn these children, let us stand in solidarity with their parents and pray that God will give them inner strengthen to help them cope with this tragedy
