Megafarm, a diversified project-based agricultural startup owned by Ingenious Group, has announced the lease of NILEFIELDS, a 3000-acre field for maize farming based on the Nile banks of Twic East County, Jonglei State. The project will see the establishment of the farm, a maize mill, storage silos, and other ancillary support services to ensure efficient management. According to the holding company, Megafarm is a collection of farming projects that Ingenious undertakes in different parts of Eastern Africa. The Megafarm strategy is to oversee the development of investments in critical agricultural areas and such investments are defined by;
Large scale maize farms- 1000 acres and more. Large scale sorghum fields -1000 acres and more. Livestock ranches including sheep, goat, and cattle. Large scale fruit farms.Vertical food processing facilities.
In addition to Megafarm, Ingenious Group also has a parallel project, The Twic East Development Initiative (TEDI), a forward-looking project meant to stimulate and accelerate the development of Twic East county through organized investments in areas of agriculture along with the Green Fields (GF), an area stretching along and between the County and the Sudd swamp, as well as the Brown Plains (BrPl), which occupies much of the Jonglei State’s Block B between Twic and Duk counties.
