Rwanda on Tuesday received the second batch of medical supplies from China to help in its fight against COVID-19, the Ministry of Health confirmed.

“On Behalf of the Ministry of Health, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Iyakaremye Zacharie appreciates the continuous support from the People’s Republic of China through the China Embassy to Rwanda,” the ministry wrote on Twitter.

The East African country has reported 4,722 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 27 deaths, according to the latest data from the ministry.

Hudson Wang Jiaxin, the Economic and Commercial Chancellor in Chinese Embassy in Rwanda, was part of the team that delivered the donation to Rwanda.

Wang commended Rwanda’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic which he said not only protects Rwandese nationals but also the Chinese community living in the country.
