The President of South Sudan publicly expressed his appreciation to the Chinese government and people for taking effective measures to control the COVID19 epidemic across the world.

Speaking at the Chinese embassy in South Sudan, President Salva Kiir Mayardit emphasised that South Sudan’s government and people fully support China’s efforts to fight the epidemic. 

He added that South Sudan will work hard to solve the difficulties encountered by Chinese enterprises in the production and operation of  South Sudan.

There have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus in South Sudan. The country has reportedly tested 18 suspicious cases,all of which came back with negative results.

South Sudan has already established isolation and treatment centres and trained rapid response teams in preparation of the virus. Additionally, screening sites have been established and monitoring mechanisms have been initiated in communities and medical institutions.
