Boda-boda Association in South Sudan staged protests and appreciate President Salva Kiir Mayardit for removing the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Hon. Salvatore Garang Mabiordit

The groups of Boda-boda riders took to the streets of Juba on Thursday, September 17th, 2020 to wave their celebration on the removal of Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Hon. Salvatore Garang Mabiordit on Wednesday, September 16th, 2020 after President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued presidential decrees relieving the post-constitutional holders in the finance institutions.

The leaders of the Boda Boda Association in South Sudan say they have appreciated and congratulating President Salva Kiir Mayardit for implementing the decision to sacked Minister of finance and economic planning, Hon. Salvatore Garang Mabiordit and replace him with Hon. Athian Diing Athian who served as former deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning in 2018.

The BASS argued newly appointed minister of finance and economic planning Hon. Athian Diing Athian to resolves the structure of the ministry to solves the issues of the economic crisis in the country which had over lab the markets.

As analysts and activists have pointed out that changing the minister will not solve the economic crisis and exactly what the hullabaloo is designed to achieve is being displayed by the Boda Boda Association in South Sudan.

It won’t make any difference. He was fired in 2018 ostensibly for involving in corrupt practices. His placement, Mou Ambrose, tried to do things differently but was fired.

Unless he took the corruption vaccine in the last two years (and if that vaccine takes years to protect the heart from misappropriation), it’s futile to count on him too much.

The Boda-Boda celebration was stage-managed. Even the market did not react positively to those changes
