Tomori, NCMP (Facebook Watch) : On the Facebook page of Professor John Akec, the VC of the University of Juba, He wrote:

“What do they mean? How can a bright and groom put on wedding clothes and recite sacred vows twice? Those privately organized graduation ceremonies are a legacy from the old Sudan carried out by students of public universities that could not afford official annual graduation ceremonies. Since 2015 we have been conducting ceremonies for 6 years on a row. The one for this year has been delayed to March 2021 because of Covid-19. I am of the view that private ceremonies be phased out and made illegal.”

He added:

“I WAITED 4 YEARS TO WEAR THE GRADUATION GOWN. Nowadays, students cannot wait for 4 months. It is debasing the honor.”

Prof. John Akec

Below is people reactions on the issue broached by the professor:

Chuot Makur Chuot: “Just ban those premature graduations. You’ve the power!”

Deng Minister: “It’s absolutely true VC.”

Alfred Taban Angelo: “I waited for 10 yrs to graduate from a medical school at UOJ but these students can’t wait for 4 months only. It is so shameful.

Chol Moses Majok: “Premature is always abnormal, please work on this issue. It’s debasing the honor indeed.”

Lahad Majok Apach: “This is too much Prof.. you mean some students are graduated before 4 months? “

Dinka Pachock: “It is your solely prerogative to ban those immature graduations where individuals took the ceremony on their own”

Martin M. Ariik: “Absolutely right VC UOJ graduation is easy now a day.”

Dut Akech : Dr. John Akec, I admired how you silent people by or with evidences and facts. Go figure ! Go Graduation Gown

Mariba Yugu: Congratulations

Mabior Deng Kuer: You really should ban private graduations. They’re ridiculous and put an integrity dent on Degrees from our top university.

Akuei Mangar Akech: Some of us are waiting for your timetable so don’t worry.

Mawien Miokdit: Prof. John, the students that were in the gowns belong to those Associations that conducted their farewell ceremonies. When they first join the University they were received by those Associations and to end their membership then those Associations also conduct farewell ceremonies to them. After those processes they will end up their membership from their so that they will no longer has the right to contest for any position or to vote any many other membership procedures. Those ceremonies are called farewell ceremonies not graduation ceremonies. Hope am clear here………
