“12 MILLION SOUTH SUDANESE HAVE SURRENDERED THEIR COUNTRY TO FEW HUNDREDS TO OWN IT,” ACTIVIST DECRIES

South Sudan’s famous Civil society activist Wani Michael has lamented the handing over and surrender of the country by all South Sudanese to a small group of cartels to control and sink the country into abyss.
Writing in a long facebook post, the Okay Africa Foundation CEO underwrote the failure by the country’s politicians to fully and swiftly implement the resolutions of R-ARCIS in more than two years.
“Sadly, the 12 million South Sudanese have decided to handover and surrender their country to a few hundreds to own it”, he wrote,”sinking the country further and thinking miracles will fall from heaven. It’s time we reclaim our country back from these corrupt and unserious leaders”, he concluded.
The activist was criticizing the parties to R-ARCIS for taking long to implement provisions of the agreement yet they’ve had ample time to fix everything.
The activist underscored the number of times the parties asked for extension periods. First they were given 8 months pre-transitional period, later 6 months and 100 days and still nothing was done.
Despite the R-TGONU approaching a year in office next week, much of the Government still remains informed especially state governments and parliament yet to be reconstituted.
The activist, who also doubles as a youths representative during R-ARCIS signing in Addis Ababa, doubts the progress the government will make when they’re just dealing with “selection of officials” and most complex issues Such as reconciliation and accountability of war crimes haven’t yet arrived.
Several political activists such Professor Abraham Kuol Nyuon have called into the possibility of elections taking place next year despite Government spokesperson Michael Makuei reiterating that their eyes remain focused on next year’s general elections.
With the government approaching 1-year anniversary on Monday 22nd, the time bomb is ticking on the government to reconstitute parliament and form all levels of State governments as earlier communicated by Presidential Minister Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial.
