A Youth Forum Urges Bentiu Communities To Promote Gender Equality

Bentiu Youth Forum in collaboration with the Action for conflict and resolution (ACR) organization yesterday, Wednesday, March 22nd, 2022 asked communities currently living in Unity State Bentiu to promote gender equality at domestic, humanitarian, and government levels.
Bentiu Youth Forum, in partnership with the Action for Conflict and Resolution (ACR) group, requested communities in Unity State Bentiu to promote gender equality at the household, humanitarian, and government levels yesterday, Wednesday, March 22nd, 2022.
“Since fundamental human rights are for everybody, let women express themselves freely, sacrifice their autonomy, and be empowered in positions,” they said on radio Kondial 97.2 FM.
They also asserted that this would enable women to carry out their responsibilities on an equal gender basis with males.
The two groups also said that although the administration of Unity State Bentiu has adopted affirmative action, further decentralization of their functions is critical, since thirty-five percent of the Minister’s list in the State is handicapped, indicating that their duties are not firm.
They consequently encourage the State government to empower women in government positions without regard to gender and to work as much as possible to abolish gender-based violence at all levels.
They further stated that this will empower the women in taking their duties on an equal gender base ground with men.
The two organizations also pointed out that the government of Unity State Bentiu has implemented affirmative action but more decentralization of their roles is paramount in that out of the Minister’s list in the State, thirty-five percent of affirmative action is handicapped meaning their duties are not firm.
They, therefore, urge the State government to empower women in government offices without discrimination in regard to gender and try as much as possible to stop the violation of women at all levels.
