After one person was slain by gunmen in Jonglei, the situation has returned to normal.

The Jonglei State authorities stated that tranquility has restored after gunmen believed to be from the neighboring State of Greater Pibor Administrative Area assaulted Makol-Cuei hamlet and killed one person.

According to John Samuel Manyuon, Minister of Information and Communication, the event happened on Wednesday morning, when Makol Cuei teenagers were assaulted, killing one and injuring another.

“We urged the officials of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area to warn their youngsters not to assault our Jonglei state youths in order to give us an opportunity to address the pre-existing issues of insecurity rather than new ones.”

He also said that the state administration encourages the people of Jonglei State to remain calm and permits the state government to speak with GPAA officials.

Meanwhile, Greater Pibor’s Minister of Information, Jay Adingora Alual, said that he is unaware of the occurrence.
