Andrew Acheng Anhiem, Yirol West County commissioner, quits.

Yirol West County Commissioner in Lakes State has resigned, citing administrative disputes with the state governor.
Andrew Acheng Anhiem, who was appointed on the SPLM-IO ticket, said Governor Rin Tueny selected county officials unilaterally without notifying him, an act he characterized as sabotage against his government.
Andrew highlighted refusal to use the commissioner’s house, intimidation by security officers, and arbitrary arrests of SPLM-IO members in the region in his resignation letter on Thursday.
“I am thus tendering my resignation as a commissioner of Yirol West County in order to offer the people of Yirol West the opportunity to elect another commissioner who will serve them during this vital period of peace implementation,” Andrew said in his letter.
In a Radio Tamazuj report seen by NCMP, Poth Madit Dut, Lakes State’s Deputy Governor and SPLM-IO chairman, confirmed Andrew’s resignation.
“Yes, we have received the SPLM-IO commissioner’s resignation letter, which has been accepted, and a successor will be chosen shortly to fill the vacancy,” Dut stated.
According to the renewed peace accord, government decision-making should be conducted in a collegial collaborative spirit.
Additionally, it demands that state governments confer with one another and work together in the cause of peace and stability.
