Animu hospitalized after her release on bail.

According to reports, controversial youth activist Animu Athiei has been released from jail in Juba on bail and is being hospitalized.
According to an Eye Radio report seen by NCMP, her lawyer verified her release. Last year, the Immigration, Passport, and Nationality Department detained Animu for allegedly illegally obtaining diplomatic credentials.
After the information obtained by the government in Juba indicated that she was a Ugandan national, she was turned over to Ugandan authorities.
She was allegedly refused entry into Uganda due to the unethical handling of the case. Ever since being returned to Juba, Animu has been in custody awaiting investigation and court hearings ever since.
Anyang Ngong, an attorney, said that his client was freed last Thursday after paying bail of 2,500 dollars.
Several appeals and requests were rejected by the junior prosecutors before Anyang Ngong was able to gain Animu’s release on bail last week, she explained.
He claims that investigations into the case are still underway, and that Animu is scheduled to appear in court shortly after.
“She is still in the hospital taking her medicine while the matter is being heard in court, yet the attorney at the station continues to insist the investigation is continuing.”
“We don’t know how long it will take, but we are hoping that the matter will be heard soon,” Advocate Ngong said.
Animu was elected to parliament on the platform of the Other Political Parties OPP in May of last year. However, her appointment was canceled by President Salva Kiir for unspecified reasons.
