When John Garang’s life came crashing down on the 30th July 2005, South Sudanese were shocked and broken. An investigative committee was formed and the “results” showed that there was no foul play, but rather crash was attributed to “bad weather”.
In a new twist of events, an independent and sophisticated investigation by Atem Gai De Dut- an economist, Analyst, Independent researcher, and the Editor-in-Chief of NCMP, showed that John Garang’s death was an assassination- orchestrated by both South Sudanese (most still in the current Kiir’s Government) and Ugandan elements.
Speaking exclusively to former SSTV journalist Eunice Malath- Host of Beyond the Headlines on Sunrise Media in the United States of America, Mr. Atem illustrates a shocking revelation of events that happened before, during and after the plane took off from Entebbe Airport to New Cush, Eastern Equatoria State.
“The pilot tried to land at least twice, but that didn’t happen. He was ordered from the ground control in Entebbe to return to Uganda”, said Mr. Atem.
In Atem’s investigations filed into a a report titled “Secrets in a Flight Manifest: The Making of a Traitor”, facts have it that a prominent member of Kiir’s camp then and upto now still a very powerful official, flew to Entebbe Airport on the 12 days leading to Garang’s death, including the weekend the deceased was at Entebbe airport.
Atem urges the government to form a committee to re-investigate the case by ordering the airlines that landed on those days to submit their manifests to the government and reveal the names of their clients on the weekends leading to Garang’s death.
“If the president and the government want to find out the individual, they could unearth him before daylight tomorrow”, he adds.
“If we do nothing, we would be a people with no aspirations”, Atem stresses.
The investigation includes a meeting with the plane manufacturers in Russia, Family of the Ugandan airport employee (gone missing since that fateful weekend) who fueled the chopper.
