Bor Celebrates as Salaam FC Wins South Sudan National League, Bringing Unity, and Hope to a Nation in Rebuild

Bor erupted in celebration as Salaam FC clinched the championship title of the highly competitive South Sudan National League. The team from Jonglei State emerged victorious with an impressive seven-point lead over their closest rivals, Bentiu’s El-Mariekh FC.
The players were welcomed back to a hero’s welcome and thunderous applause from local leaders and fans. Among those welcoming the team was Mabil Makuach Dau, the minister for youth, culture, and sports. He congratulated the champions and promised to continue supporting the development of sports in the country.
“Sports in South Sudan, and particularly in Jonglei State, is a unifying factor that can help us build peace amongst ourselves,” he said.
Jacob Dengdit, the area deputy governor, praised the team for raising the name of Jonglei State and called on citizens to support sports activities, promising to mobilize resources and support from individuals, associations, and entrepreneurs within the state.
The triumph of Salaam FC has earned them a coveted spot in the CAF Champions League, where they will represent South Sudan in the upcoming tournament.
The South Sudan National League is one of the most fiercely contested competitions on the African continent, featuring over 10 teams from the Upper Nile region, Equatorial region, and Bahr El Ghazel region. With such intense competition, Salaam FC’s victory is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and unwavering spirit.
