Businesswomen Forge Path to Success in East Africa, Empowerment Convention Sparks Hope in Juba

A dynamic gathering of businesswomen founders and entrepreneurs has taken place in Juba, igniting a transformative two-day Women’s Convention. With the objective of fostering a platform for mutual learning and experience-sharing, the event drew participants from across East Africa.
Organized by Triple A Group, in collaboration with the Female Founders Initiative Middle East & Africa (FFI-MEA) and South Sudan Women Entrepreneurs, the convention showcased the dedication and resilience of businesswomen in the region.
At the opening session, Atong Amos, the Chief Executive Officer of Triple A Group, emphasized the convention’s primary goal of empowering young South Sudanese businesswomen by providing them with invaluable insights from seasoned industry leaders.
“Our business leaders in the country have taken it upon themselves to change the fortunes of our youth, girls, and women through active participation. Hence, Triple A Group has partnered with the Female Founders Initiative Middle East and Africa to establish a platform for businesswomen founders and entrepreneurs to acquire knowledge from those who have achieved success in the business world,” Amos explained.
The convention aims to facilitate not only the display of products and services by businesswomen but also meaningful interactions and the exchange of experiences. Recognizing the importance of continuity in knowledge provision and guidance, Amos expressed the intention to hold future conferences regularly.
Moreover, the event provides an opportune moment for businesswomen to address pertinent concerns to government officials, particularly regarding the need for a safe operating environment. By voicing their questions and demands, these entrepreneurs aim to foster a more secure and supportive ecosystem for their businesses.
Dhieu Mathok, the Minister for Investment, commended Triple A Group for hosting the convention and reiterated the government’s commitment to collaborating with women entrepreneurs. He reassured attendees that efforts would be made to enhance coordination on government activities and policies at national and state levels, with the ultimate objective of strengthening the business environment within the country.
“In assuring them, we are committed to providing better coordination on government activities and policies at national and state levels in order to strengthen the business environment in the country,” Minister Mathok affirmed.
The convention coincides with a recent summons of three national ministers, including the Minister of Investment, by parliamentarians. The summons was issued due to perceived shortcomings in implementing the third schedule of the Investment Promotion Act 2009.
Minister Mathok also unveiled plans for his ministry to develop a comprehensive policy framework that identifies and maps business opportunities across the nation. This strategic initiative intends to enhance the entrepreneurial landscape by promoting transparency and providing businesswomen with a clear roadmap for growth.
As the convention progresses, its impact on empowering businesswomen and creating an enabling environment for their enterprises will be closely observed. This gathering of determined entrepreneurs has the potential to set a transformative course for women-led businesses in East Africa, generating hope for economic empowerment and gender equality.
