Catholic Archdiocese of Juba announces five days of mourning Sisters Mary Daniel Abut and Regina Roba

Two members of the community of the Sacred Heart Sisters of the Archdiocese of Juba were assassinated yesterday by armed persons.
Sister Mary and Sister Regina were traveling on the Juba-Nimule route on a commercial bus.
They were returning to Juba after the centennial festivities at Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Loa.
The Catholic Archdiocese of Juba announced Monday that all Catholic institutions, including universities, seminaries, colleges, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, would stay closed until Friday.
Two nuns and two other male passengers have been confirmed deceased so far, according to the Governor’s office of Eastern Equatoria state. Five individuals have already been confirmed killed in a morning attack in the Kubi region.
Sister Mary Abut, the first nun, died on the scene, while the second sister died in a hospital in Nimule. The Catholic Archdiocese of Juba has declared five days of mourning in the aftermath of yesterday’s assassination of two reverend nuns.
The Catholic Secretariat and its institutions will shut during this time period.
