China’s Ambassador to South Sudan, Hua Ning said the coronavirus outbreak in parts of the world will not interfere with Chinese projects in South Sudan.

Speaking to reporters in Juba on Friday, Ambassador Ning said about 2,000 Chinese nationals are currently working in various projects in South Sudan. He explained that the Chinese government is supporting South Sudan in the infrastructure, health, oil, humanitarian, trade and education sectors.

The new coronavirus that originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan has killed more than 3,000 people so far and infected over 80,000 others globally.

The World Health Organization has declared the new coronavirus a global emergency.

With fears of a pandemic on the rise, the World Health Organization urged all countries to stock up on critical care ventilators to treat patients with severe symptoms of the deadly respiratory disease.

The rapid spread of the coronavirus has raised fears over its impact on the world economy.
