Delegation Evaluates Memorandum of Understanding with Aliiny Community on Oil Field Base

A delegation led by Hon. Mayen Wol, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum, held a meeting with representatives from the Aliiny community on Wednesday. The meeting took place at a conference hall in the Wizeen oil field base owned by the Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC).
The meeting aimed to evaluate the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between GPOC and the three counties of Aliiny on September 12th, 2020.
The delegation arrived at Yida Airstrip, where they were received by the Chief Administrator of Ruweng Administrative Area, H.E Stephano Wieu De Mialek.
The delegation, which included the First Deputy Speaker of the Council of States, Rt. Hon. Mary Ayen Mijok, and the Vice President of GPOC, Hon. Mayol Kur Akuei, then proceeded to the capital of Ruweng Administrative Area, Panrieng, before taking a tour around the wells in Athoony to evaluate their situation.
The meeting was held in Bongki, in Aliiny County, and was attended by representatives from the Aliiny community. During the meeting, the community representatives discussed various issues, including presenting the challenges they face, such as a lack of hospitals, schools, and water yards.
The Undersecretary listened to their concerns and discussed possible solutions.
