Eastern Equatoria State Member Of Parliament Calls Upon Humanitarian Agencies To Assist The Victims Of Fire In Yihiyahi Village

Angelo James Ayonyang, an SPLM-IO nominated member of parliament representing the eastern Equatoria state has called upon the humanitarian agencies to assist and come to rescue the victims of the fire that broke out in Yihiyaha village in Lotobok Boma of Longorio Payam in Lafon county.
The state MP also added that the victims are now suffering since the food stores(granaries) were burnt down alongside with other houses adding that the relief and rehabilitation commission promised to send an assessment team to the affected area.
“It is really unfortunate and the victims are now suffering because all the harvest they stored has been destroyed. I call upon the humanitarian agencies to rescue the situation. I called upon the relief and rehabilitation commission(RCC) and they said that they will send an assessment team.” Angelo said.
The county commissioner Magisto Ukachi Agweri revealed what caused the fire outbreak as an attempt by the children to prepare porridge in their parent’s absence and atleast 213 houses were burnt and left in ashes leaving about 1,000 people homeless.
“The households that were burnt are 213 and there are other small houses including granaries that have not been counted.” He revealed while addressing the media.
