Former Jubilee party gubernatorial candidate Mabel Muruli has succumbed to the Covid-19 disease.

Confirming the development, her brother George Muruli stated that Ms Muruli died on Friday morning.

“She was at the ICU wing at Karen Hospital before being transferred to the KNH for specialized care,” Mr Muruli stated.

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya was among the leaders who condoled with the late politician’s family.

“I’ve learnt with shock and sadness the death of Mama Mable Muruli. Kakamega has lost its hard working, committed, courageous and humble daughter whose contribution towards the growth of our County will be missed.

“May God grant her family fortitude and strength to bear the loss,” Governor Oparanya conveyed.

Other leaders from the Western region equally relayed their condolences to the family over the loss.

“The closer it hits the more real it looks. Am saddened to mourn my sister Mrs. Mabel Muruli Mark. Mukhana weruu, you were a real jewel. Fare thee well,” former Senator Boni Khalwale tweeted.
