Four Army Officers Arrested For Allegedly Torturing Local Chief

NCMP– According to Lakes State police, at least four army officers have been detained in connection with the torture of a prominent local chief from Yirol East County at the Maburzeet Prison in Yirol West County.
According to a police investigator, the four suspects being held in the Yirol West County National Security center are members of the SSPDF.
Jok Anyuat went on to say that after the chief was beaten, he personally handed him form 8 and hurried him to the hospital.
“I followed him for investigations and he told me data of nine military personnel that participated in the local chief beating. He also said that these individuals were directed by Lt. Col. Makuei Achieny,” Anyuat stated.
William Koji Kirjok, Lakes State’s state caretaker minister of information and communication, acknowledged the arrests and said that justice will be delivered.
“In my perspective, the state administration has denounced it in the strongest terms imaginable, and those who assaulted Chief Madut Buoi have been detained for further inquiry,” he said.
However, Jok Anyuat brings up the subject of police involvement in torture. There is no police participation in his torture, according to him.
The dispute occurred between Chief Madut Buoi, military troops in Maburzeet, and forestry ministry officials over the problem of cutting mahogany for wood. There were no police officers present. Maburzeet has no police presence.
“Those in Maburzeet are SSPDF, not police,” Anyuat said.
The chief is still at Yirol Hospital seeking treatment.
