Government of Greater Pibor Condemns Ambush on Cattle Traders, Calls for Unity Against Criminality

The Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) has strongly condemned the recent ambush carried out by armed youths, suspected to be from the Dinka Bor tribe, against cattle traders from GPAA.
The incident occurred on September 14, 2023, in Tirito, Central Equatorial State, as the traders were en route to Juba to sell their cattle. The attack resulted in the theft of over 4,000 herds of cattle.
In a press statement issued by the Office of the Deputy Chief Administrator of GPAA, the government expressed its dismay over the barbaric act and extended its condolences to the affected cattle traders.
The GPAA government called upon the youth of the administrative area to remain calm while authorities establish communications with the government of Jonglei State to identify, apprehend, and hold the perpetrators accountable for their inhumane deed.
Under the leadership of H.E Lokoli Ame, the government of Greater Pibor Administrative Area has consistently preached peace to the youth, urging them to maintain calm and coexist peacefully.
This approach has contributed to a period of relative peace in the region over the past few months. However, the ambush on September 14th caught everyone by surprise, necessitating a joint effort between the governments of GPAA and Jonglei State to prevent further damage and violence.
The attack serves as a stark reminder of the need to remain united against criminal elements and protect the well-being of the citizens in both sisterly states.
The governments must not succumb to the evil acts of these criminals, but rather double their efforts to deter and prevent such occurrences in the future. Peace-building and security measures will be strengthened to ensure the safety and prosperity of all inhabitants of the region.
