Governor Establishes Committee to Address South Sudan-Uganda Border Tension; Positive Meeting Yields Promising Results

Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony of South Sudan has taken decisive action to address the recent border tension with Uganda in Kajo-Keji County and the West Nile Districts of Yumbe and Moyo. In an effort to defuse the situation, he has established an ad-hoc Committee tasked with investigating the matter.
After conducting a thorough investigation, the Committee has finalized its findings and submitted a detailed report to the relevant authorities for further action. During a press statement, the State Minister of Cabinet Affairs, who is a member of the Committee, provided insights into the successful and constructive meeting.
The discussions primarily revolved around the importance of deepening and strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two states, emphasizing the need for a sense of camaraderie as sister states. The Minister also underscored the significance of promoting peaceful coexistence among the youth in the affected areas, urging them to refrain from engaging in provocative activities.
To maintain stability, the Committee has issued a directive calling for an immediate cessation of any significant activities near the disputed areas until a final ruling is reached by the Committees of both South Sudan and Uganda. Additionally, the meeting highlighted the importance of enhancing people-to-people interactions to actively stimulate economic growth.
The meeting boasted the presence of Hon. Matata Khamis, the Acting Secretary General of the Revitalized Transitional Government of Central Equatoria State, further emphasizing the significance attached to resolving the border tension.
