Find the memo below:
Dear Honorable Acting Governor,
We, the Civil Servants in various State Ministries, have had enough of empty promises from the Government and the Workers’ Trade Union regarding our work conditions.
Jonglei State Workers’ Trade Union is regarded as the mouthpiece of the state civil servants but, to our dismay, the union has, on different occasions, toned down our concerns. For this reason, we, therefore, herein, write to your authority our demands, seeking special attention.
Our demands:
Salary increment: we implore your office to immediately review the salary scale of all Civil Servants in Jonglei State, both classified and unclassified staffs This year, the State Executives, increased their salaries to about 300%, and in 2018, Members of the then State Legislative Assembly did the taste. Leaving the state Civil Servants far behind;
- Payment of all the Arrears: we demand payment of all the arrears for the last four and five months;
2. Replenish Bor State Hospital with drugs: Bor State Hospital lacks essential drugs. It is shameful that the state government cannot afford antibiotics at the detriment of the Jonglei People;
3. Provision of operational costs: stationery. Refreshments, among other operational requirements, should be provided to allow, for smooth delivery of our duties;
4. Provision of allowances: such as communication allowances, among other significant support to day-to-day activities.
Hon. Deputy Governor, we anticipate your urgent constructive response to these demands within 48 hours. Failure of which, we shall be forced to put down our tools.
NB: compiled by various State Civil Servants.
Thank you!
