Juba and Khartoum reaffirm their commitment to executing security accords.

South Sudan and Sudan recommitted on Thursday to executing security cooperation agreements by improving the flow of security-related information, reopening border crossings, and increasing bilateral trade.
S.Sudan’s Defense Minister Angelina Teny met with the leader of the JPSM in Juba on Wednesday and Thursday where they signed the agreement.
Sudanese Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok and South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit agreed last month to reopen the Jebeleen Renk, Meiram, Buram-Tumsah, and Kharsana-Panakuac border crossings.
During a joint news conference following signing the agreement, Sudanese Minister Ibrahim announced a 1st October 2021 start date for reopening the borders in the town of Jebeleen, White Nile State in Sudan.

As Ibrahim put it, “We are looking forward to setting up banks and commerce as well as finding answers to the pensions issue”. “We’d like to set a good example for the region. To achieve this goal, we work with our partners and provide improved living circumstances for our residents.”
According to South Sudan’s defense minister Teny, a matrix for the reopening of borders, regular JPSM meetings, and other security concerns has been agreed upon.
