Juba University raised $1.1 million via fundraising, $3 million short of the set target.

During a fundraising event on Wednesday, the University of Juba earned one million and one hundred and eighty thousand (1,118,000) US dollars to expand lecture spaces at the university.
On November 17, Vice Chancellor Professor John Akec arranged a fundraising event in Juba.
According to the organizing committee, they received a total of 1,111,100 US dollars in contributions from high-profile personalities.
Furthermore, regular attendees at the event gave 4,355,800 South Sudanese pounds.
President Salva Kiir donated the largest donation of one million US dollars.
However, the funds gathered during the event fell short of the $3 million goal set by Vice Chancellor John Akec to construct a “state-of-the-art complex lecture hall” to boost learning at the public university.
It’s unclear if the funds were obtained in cash or via commitments.
