Kiir Focuses To Foster Development In Wau

President Salva Kiir Mayardit yesterday March 18th, 2023 appealed to the citizens of Wau to embrace the spirit of peace and reconciliation so as to foster development and also prepare for the general election after the transitional period.
Asides from Peace and Reconciliation being the confirmed roadmap to achieving development, President Kiir has taken it to another level of improving infrastructure like roads, and as such, H.E. directed the Minister of Roads and Bridges to construct a 60 km tarmac road within Wau town.
“I have noticed the condition of your roads, since we are working on road development as well, we have constructed the Juba-Bor road that connects Malakal to Ayod and Renk. With this, I now direct the Minister of Roads and Bridges to tarmac roads within Wau town” President Kiir said during a public rally in Wau.
President Kiir further stated that he introduced free education to eradicate the illiteracy rate in the country, particularly girl child education.
“No child should stay at home without being taken to school, I urged you to take all the children to school, especially girls. Girls are no longer sold for high bride prices but must go to school and contribute to the development of the country.” President Kiir reiterated
However, the Governor of Western Bhar El Ghazal state, Sarah Cleto Rial thanked President Kiir for prioritizing free education in the country. She said the citizens of Wau are in solidarity with the President adding that there is peace and stability in the state.
She further pointed out the need to refurbish old schools and hospitals and as well appealed to the national government to increase capacity building for young people and women.
