Kiir meets Ramaphosa in South Africa

His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa receives a courtesy call from His Excellency President Salva Kiir Myardit of the Republic of South Sudan during his 3-day working visit to South Africa.

The leaders are assessing the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan and exploring mutual areas of interest and economic opportunities in the Agriculture, Tourism, Minerals, and Energy & the Services sector.

Marial who was appointed last week to replace Nhial Deng Nhial further said Kiir “informed his South African Counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa that he wholeheartedly welcomes the appointment of Nicholas Haysom as Secretary General Representative and Head of UNMISS.”
South Africa remains committed to assisting in building lasting peace in the region.

It is also worthy of note that the South Sudan’s minister of presidential affairs accompanied the president in his South African trip.
