Kiir to decide on the perpetrators of the extrajudicial killings in Unity state.

President Salva Kiir has received a report on the latest extrajudicial death in Unity State, on which he is due to rule.
According to SSPDF Spokesperson Major General Lul Ruai Koang, the incident report has been compiled by the Assistant Chief of Defence Forces of Operations, Lt. General Thoi Chany.
“The first stage was the filing of a status report, which was written by the assistant head of defense forces of operations, who was sent to the region immediately after the commissioner was slain,” Lul added.
Four individuals thought to be members of the South Sudan People’s Army commanded by Stephen Buay were slain by a shooting squad earlier this month, which was videotaped and disseminated on Meta platforms.
The victims were shackled and blindfolded before being shot dead in a wooded location by troops dressed in SSPDF uniforms.
The convicted opposition policemen, who will be extradited from Sudan soon, are accused of murdering Mayom County Commissioner Chuol Gatluak Manime.
General Chany was sent to Mayom County by the SSPDF Headquarters in Juba shortly after the assassination of Chuol Gatluak.
“He (General Chany) returned last week and addressed the army’s leadership and high command on the situation in Mayom County, as well as filed a report on the same,” said an army spokeswoman.
His responsibilities during his tenure in Mayom are unknown.
However, Major General Lul said that it is up to the president to determine what steps should be done to solve the issue.
“The head of defense forces…. will transmit it to the president in his position as commander in chief of the SSPDF, who will decide whether or not to constitute an investigating committee.”
“Now it’s in the hands of the chief of staff and the commander of the chief; they’ll decide what happens next.”
The state administration acknowledged the arrest of four commanders loyal to Stephen Buay, who were allegedly responsible for the death of Mayom County Commissioner, in a press release dated August 8th.
According to the statement, the people were moved to Unity State and turned up to the authorities, which Buay criticized.
