On Christmas Eve this year, Hon. Telar Ring Deng informed his relatives and the general public that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

As a proven leader, he was kind and wise to warn the public that Coronavirus exists and that people should mask-up and protect themselves. Unfortunately, he lost the battle to Coronavirus yesterday.

Before yesterday, the people of South Sudan gathered at the airport to receive the Tanzanian Artist Diamond Platinumz. The streets of Juba were covered by citizens who didn’t observe Coronavirus set rules and regulations.

The party that took place at Freedom was a disaster, followed by a concert that was graced by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

It was good to hold a peace event because we need peace, but this event might result into more deaths of our elders and people with underlying health conditions in the next 30 days.

The two events were Coronavirus superspreaders, and I am afraid that the young people who attended without any masks may carry the disease to their parents and grandparents or whoever they will come in contact with.

Hon. Telar Ring Deng may be gone, but as he lay on his deathbed a few days ago, he warned South Sudanese!
