Newly Sworn Deputy Secretary-General Highlights SPLM’s Mission to Liberate and Empower People of South Sudan

The newly sworn-in Deputy Secretary General, Benjamin Bol Mel has highlighted the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement’s (SPLM’s) mission to liberate and empower citizens and outlined the subsequent goals of development in the country.
To him, subsequent goals include; infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, and utilizing natural resources for self-sufficiency without relying on foreign loans.
Addressing the distinguished gathering, in a ceremony held at the SPLM House and graced by top political leaders, including the Chairman of the SPLM, President Salva Kiir Mayardit, Bol Mel commended President Kiir’s wisdom, guidance, and courage during critical moments in the country’s history, which have contributed to the peace and unity of South Sudan.
Asides Mel expressing his gratitude to President Kiir for the appointment as SPLM’s First Deputy Secretary-General for Political Mobilization and Organization, former member of the SPLM/SPLA Red Army also pledged his commitment to fulfilling the responsibilities associated with his new role.
He stressed the core values of discipline and loyalty within the SPLM and reiterated his commitment to respect the constitution and standing orders of the party while carrying out his duties. Bol Mel concluded his speech by assuring President Kiir that his trust in appointing him to the position would yield positive results, emphasizing his proactive approach and commitment to action.
We shall find strength in numbers by tirelessly mobilizing the grassroots and future-proofing SPLM through a winning political strategy for the benefit of the Republic,” Bol said.
