Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango is one of several players set to miss out on the upcoming Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) qualifiers.

Uganda is slated to face South Sudan in the AFCON 2021 qualifiers, in a double header starting with a clash at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole on March 28.

However, after the government updated its list of countries that are barred from having travelers into the country as a measure to curb the fast spreading Corona Virus, several players are no longer certain of their appearance.

Onyango is currently plying his trade in South Africa at Mamelodi Sundowns.

South Africa is also now part of a list of 16 countries whose flights have been barred by the government.

Moses Wasswa who plays for Super Sport United is the other Ugandan who was summoned onto the team that was announced last week, but features in South Africa.

The other countries on the list include Italy, San Marino, France, China, Germany, Spain, Belgium, USA, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Iran, Austria, and Malaysia.

This means that Ronald Mukiibi and Charles Bakka who play in Sweden, Michael Azira (United States of America) Bevis Mugabi, Elvis Bwomono, midfielder Jayden Onen and forward Uche Mubiru who all ply their trade in the United Kingdom, may all not be part of the upcoming qualifier.

Uganda is currently top of their group with four points from two games having drawn away to Burkina Faso and defeating Malawi 2-0.

As of Friday, Uganda is yet to register a case of the COVID-19.
The Corona Virus which first surfaced in China late last year has become a global inconvenience, forcing several Sporting events including the English Premier League to be suspended.
