Koome is set to be sworn in as Chief Justice after her nomination was Wednesday morning approved by Kenya’s National Assembly.
On April 27, Kenya’s Judicial Service Commission (JSC) nominated her to become the country’s Chief Justice
“After lengthy deliberations and careful consideration of the performance of various candidates the JSC has unanimously recommended the appointment of Hon. Koome Martha Karabu as the Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya and has submitted her name to the President for appointment,” a statement from the JSC read.
She succeeds Justice David Maraga, who retired in December 2020.
