The prime suspect in a murder case was apprehended in Lakes State.
Officials in South Sudan’s Lakes State said they detained the chief suspect in the murder case of a young man who was stabbed to death over the weekend.
On Saturday afternoon, Dut Kook Mathiang Abol from the Joth sector was stabbed in Cuei-cok of Mayom Payam in Rumbek Central County.
According to the interim minister of information and communication in Lakes State, William Koji Kirjok stated that the Police in the region have promptly apprehended the chief suspect who stabbed the victim to death with a knife.
“Some youths had gone to the water point, and then they joked with a female and then they beat her on the head with wooden sticks. The girl was with her brother. He questioned why they were abusing his sister, and that led to fights, and one guy stabbed the girl’s brother to death with a knife,” he said.
In a Radio Tamazuj report seen by NCMP, Koji added the Police intervened and arrested the primary suspect on Sunday. “Only one suspect has been caught but police are pursuing the rest who were along with the suspect…..the key thing here is that they have arrested the actual suspect who stabbed a person to death with a knife for investigations,” he said.
The deputy executive director of Rumbek Central County, William Machar Chol, stated they identified the suspect as Chol Deng Muor-gaheri from the Akook area of Mayom Payam in Rumbek Central County. “It was simply an insignificant event that went into place.
The situation is normal, and everything is under the hands of the Police,” he stressed. He also stated that the Police also detained two chiefs in connection with the event.
