In a desire to contribute to the development of Burundi, his mother’s native country, Thilo Kehrer launched his own foundation. The German defender organized an evening this Monday in Paris in the presence of Marquinhos or Julian Draxler. RMC Sport was able to attend.
Thilo Kehrer has just launched his own foundation. A charity inaugurated this Monday in Paris, with the aim of developing Burundi, his mother’s native country (who taught him to speak French).
The foundation of the 23-year-old German defender will aim to help the youth of Burundi, one of the poorest countries in the world, torn apart by the civil war in the early 1990s.
Kehrer was able to count on the support of his PSG teammates during this launch party. Marquinhos, Julian Draxler and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting made the trip. For the occasion, photos taken by the German artist Tom König, last year during the Burundi peace marathon, were put up for sale.
A center to support young people at the end of schooling
The Parisian players present have all made a donation to acquire works in order to finance a center that will help young Burundians at the end of schooling. The establishment, which should see the light this year, will aim to support adolescents in professional life, by offering them training or promoting innovative projects.
This meeting for a good cause allowed Parisians to get a little fresh air a week before traveling to Dortmund, in the round of 16 of the Champions League (exclusively on RMC Sport).
