Rwanda seeks financial advice from Jersey

Rwandan government authorities have visited Jersey to seek advice on the establishment of an international financial center.
This week, experts from both jurisdictions are working together in workshops.
The visit follows a 2016 agreement between the governments of Jersey and Rwanda to boost collaboration in the financial services industry.
Jersey’s external relations minister said that it demonstrated the island’s “great reputation” across the world.
“It is also crucial that we continue to collaborate with and learn from global partners to handle the ever-evolving issues of regulatory oversight and financial crime, and our collaboration with Rwanda will allow us both to prepare as best we can,” Senator Ian Gorst said.
Dr. Uzziel Ndagijimana, Rwanda’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Uzziel Ndagijimana, said that exposure to the tax, compliance, and regulatory frameworks of an experienced financial hub such as Jersey will only improve the Rwandan industry.
