S. Sudan Health Professionals Committee: Lifting of partial sit-down strike across the nation

The leadership of the South Sudan Health Professionals Committee (SSHPC) would like to inform the entire membership that the government has taken seriously our demands for justice for Dr. Louis Edward and protection of health professionals across the country.
Over the weekends, the Committee has been engaged in meetings with the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Minister of Interior and the Ministry of Health representative. The outcomes of these meetings were:
- Attention and commitment by the government to take the killing of Dr. Louis Edward as a case of public concern.
- Promise by the above-mentioned authorities to engage with the Top Leadership of the country and Unity State authorities.
- The above-mentioned authorities requested the health professionals to give them more time as to investigate the incident and bring the culprits to book.
The Committee has therefore decided to lift the Partial Strike that is planned for Monday, 14 June and Tuesday, 15 June 2021 until furthered notice.
All health professionals are hereby requested to carry on with their normal duties including attending to cold cases and medical referrals as from tomorrow, Monday 14, June 2021.
The Committee will continue to make follow-ups and further engage with concerned authorities in regards to justice and we will update you on a regular basis.
The Committee remains ceased of the matter.
