At least eight members of South Sudan’s Bright Star football team and one technical staffer have tested positive for COVID-19, the South Sudan Football Association said in a statement this morning.
The statement further said “six more players who had contact with the infected players were put under surveillance,” and added that the delegation “will undergo another test today before tomorrow’s match
“South Sudan National Team (Bright Star) and the Delegation on the Mission to represent South Sudan in Doha underwent COVID-19 test — at least eight of the players and one technical staff were tested positive and immediately isolated as per the precautionary measures applied,” the statement seen by NCMP reads in part.
The question in the mind of South Sudanese is that weren’t they tested for COVID before leaving for Qatar. Traveling for such event require that the participants have a Covid-19 certificate.
