Police in South Sudan’s Northern Bahr al Ghazal State has been investigating two Ugandan teachers suspected of attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl since Monday, according to a police commander.
The King Solomon International Institution’s Henry Iseko, 34, and Philip Katende, 30, were detained on attempted rape charges on Monday, although the school rejects the claims.
Maj. Gen. Philip Madut Tong, the police commissioner for Northern Bahr el Ghazal, said the crime was reported by the girl’s parents.
“Yes, the case came to us, and the case paperwork is in front of me as we talk.” “The rape attempt was reported to the police by the girl’s parents,” he claimed. “So these persons (two teachers) were brought in for investigations and to learn more about what happened, and we are currently examining them so that we can get enough evidence to determine whether or not this occurred.”
The charges, according to a representative of the King Solomon International School who wanted anonymity, are without merit.
He claims that the school staff shares a complex with South Sudanese neighbors who often want additional English lessons and homework help for their children at home.
