South Sudan: Vatican unveils logo and motto of Pope ‘s visit

“I pray for unity” is the slogan of Pope Francis’ Apostolic Journey to South Sudan, which will take him to the city of Juba from 5 to 7 July.
From 2 to 5 July, the Holy Father will visit the Democratic Republic of Congo, followed by South Sudan.
Logo and motto elements
The motto is derived from a chapter in the Gospel of John known as the Farewell Prayer or the High Priestly Prayer of Jesus.
The Holy See Press Office unveiled the motto and logo on Wednesday, with the unveiling of the Pope’s 37th Apostolic Visit logo.
The logo features a dove, an outline of South Sudan in the flag’s colors, a crucifix, and two clasped hands in a strong handshake.
The dove is positioned above the outlines of the map, holding an olive branch to symbolize the yearning for peace.
Two shaking hands are shown in the map’s center, symbolizing the reconciliation of the numerous ethnic groups that comprise one country.
On the right is the cross, which symbolizes the country’s Christian past and its painful history.
The inscription “Pope Francis visits South Sudan” and the date of the Apostolic Journey are located next to the cross.
