South Sudan willing to host Sudan-Ethiopia border talks

South Sudan’s president, according to a visiting security advisor, is eager to organize a trilateral summit to resolve border concerns with Sudan and Ethiopia.
Tut Gatluak Manime, President Salva Kiir’s security adviser, made the statements during a meeting with Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council Chairman Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, during which they “discussed political ties and border concerns between the two nations,” according to Gatluak.
He noted that the two sides reviewed connections between Sudan, South Sudan, and Ethiopia, stressing that the trilateral relations will enter a new phase of cooperation.
“President Salva has proposed holding a summit in Juba for the leaders of Sudan, South Sudan, and Ethiopia to discuss the unresolved concerns” about boundary delineation, according to Gatluak.
The Sudan-Ethiopia border has seen escalating tensions and violent clashes between the two nations since September 2020.
Sudan has accused Ethiopia’s military of assisting farmers in seizing Sudanese lands in the disputed al-Fashaga area on the two nations’ border.
