DIT ABRAHAM KUANY (JUBA)-South Sudan’s former Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Paulino Wanawila has passed away on Sunday at the Juba Medical Complex.

Speaking to Northern Corridor Morning Post via cellphone in Juba on Sunday, Michael Makuei Lueth – the minister information-says the late succumbed after suffering from what was initially diagnosed as malaria, but then extensively affected him leading to pressure on blood vessels causing an internal rupture in the heart vessels and cardiac failure.

“The former minister of Justice has just passed on about one hour ago at Juba Medical Complex. He was rushed to the medical facility at 4 pm and later died at 4: 45PM.

“This disease led to the rupture of one of his heart vessels, a fatality said to have been caused by malaria. When he was rushed to the medical facility, the doctors couldn’t hold the event and he passed on at 4: 45pm” Makuei stressed

Paulino Wanawila was a lawyer by profession and had served as the minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs for seven years since his appointment in 2013.

He replaced John Luk Jok, who earlier served as the Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister from 2011 to 2013.

However, in the last month’s ministerial appointment of unity government’s ministers, Paulino was replaced by Justice Ruben Madol.

According to some South Sudanese, the late Paulino Wanawila has worked in laying and building a strong foundation of a united, peaceful and a prosperous South Sudan based on justice, equality, respect for human rights and supremacy of rule of law.
