The dismissal of Juba’s mayor sparked outrage on social media.

The firing of Juba’s mayor sparked outrage on social media. Many people are wondering what the mayor did wrong to merit his removal.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Legislative Assembly, Rt Hon Oyet Nathaniel Pierino, comments on one of the popular Facebook sites. While it is the Party’s right to nominate and dismiss leaders during the Transitional phase,
I am highly concerned about the plan of removing and replacing the Mayor of Juba City Council, who is progressive and development-oriented. This is incompatible with the country’s reform needs. South Sudan needs innovative leadership; we can no longer afford to dwell in the past.
Several social media users have taken to their news feeds to show their displeasure with the gubernatorial decision that removed Kalisto Lado Faustino as Mayor of Juba.
Many people feel the previous mayor was honest and diligent. They gloat of how Kalisto Lado tried to manage the city by destroying stores that encroached on highways and cracking down on witches and wizards, as well as prostitution.
Kalisto’s resignation comes only days after President Kiir met with Central Equatoria State Governor Adil, who has also been accused of laying off tens of small and medium-sized company owners. Taxation by Juba City Council officials has been prevalent, with large penalties imposed on enterprises. According to others, Kalisto grew so preoccupied with power that he became careless and behaved outside of his Terms of Reference.
There has also been an unsubstantiated rumor that the governor was summoned because of his decision to dismiss the mayor of Juba. The allegation, which is also trending on social media, claims that President Salva Kiir Mayardit summoned the governor of Central Equatoria state, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, barely a day after the governor removed Juba City Municipality Mayor Kalisto Lado.
According to the allegation, the president tells the governor to reverse his proclamation and reinstall the mayor, although another source suggests that no one summoned the governor.
The study said that the substantive decision made by Governor Emmanuel’s smart and capable leadership is FINAL and UNCHANGEABLE in any scenario since it is within his capacity as the incumbent Governor of Central Equatoria State who appointed him through Gubernatorial Decree No.12/2021 AD.
The letter closes by urging the general public, particularly media outlets and social media users, to separate themselves from this propaganda machinery and allow the people of Central Equatoria State to enjoy their eternal peace while carrying out their daily tasks free of rumour.
