Ugandan Players Abroad: Goalkeepers Lukwago, Onyango Keep Clean Sheet

It was yet another weekend that witnessed a number of Ugandan players in diaspora feature for their respective clubs.

In this season’s edition, Uganda is represented by two players; custodian Denis Onyango at Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa and defender Savio Kabugo at Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana.
Captain Onyango played full time in goal as Sundowns beat Sudan side Al Hilal Omdurman 1-0 in South Africa.
Kabugo played full time but got booked in the 23rd minute as his Jwaneng Galaxy lost 4-0 to Tunisia giants Esperance.

Ugandans Joseph Ochaya and Taddeo Lwanga were not in the match day squads for their teams. However, Ochaya’s TP Mazembe beat Congo Brazaville side Otoho D’oyo 1-0 at home Lwanga’s Simba SC won 3-1 against Ivory Coast side Asec Mimosas in Dar es Salaam.
National Leagues
In the Ethiopia Premier League, Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Charles Lukwago kept a clean sheet as St. George FC beat 10-man Wolkite Kenema 4-0 on the road.
Israel
Timothy Denis Awany wasn’t in Ashdod’s match day squad due to suspension but his team drew 1-1 at home to Hapoel Beer Sheva.
William Luwagga Kizito was introduced in the 71st minute for Velblum as his club Nof Hagalil drew 1-1 at home with Hapoel Hadera.
Fahad Bayo came on in the 79th minute for Melamed as his club Bneisakhnin drew 1-1 at Hapoel Haifa.
In DRC Linfoot league, Allan Kateregga featured for 71 minutes for St Eloi Lupopo who defeated Dauphins Noirs 1-0.

Herbert Bochorn wasn’t in the match day squad as his Bochum side shocked Bayern Munich 4-2 at home in the Bundesliga.
In the English Championship, Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru was introduced in the 74th minute but his club Cardiff city lost 2-1 to Millwall.
In English league one, Jordan Obita played for 90 minutes and made an assist in 85th minute as his Wycombe Wanderers drew 1-1 at Lincoln.
In Isthmian league, Odonkonyero Nathan scored a goal in the 82th minute as his Bognor Regis drew 2-2 with Leatherhead.
In the Scottish cup, Bevis Mugabi featured for 90 minutes as his Motherwell FC beat Aberdeen FC 2-1 to progress to the quarter finals.
In the Kenya Premier League, William Wadri was in while Umaru Kasumba and Rogers Aloro weren’t in the match day squad as their club Bandari FC drew goalless at KCB.
Goalie Bashir Ssekagya featured for 90 minutes as his Wazito FC lost 2-1 to SofaPaka.
Peter Lwasa started while Fred Nkata wasn’t in the match day squad as their club Gor Mahia FC side was leading Vihiga at home before the match was abandoned due to ugly scenes from fans.
In Rwanda Primus League, Robert Mukongotya featured for 73 minutes while Nicholas Sebwato played full time and kept a clean sheet as their Mukura Victory sports beat Rayon Sports 1-0.
Uganda Cranes Captain Emma Okwi played full time while Muzamir Mutyaba was an unused substitute as their Kiyovu FC beat Gorilla 2-1 on the road.

In the Zambia Premier league, Hashim Sempala played full time as his Kabwe warriors claimed a 2-0 win over Konkola.
Custodian Yasin Mugabi was an unused substitute as his Red Arrows side lost 2-0 at Green Eagles FC.
Kezironi Kizito played full time and Francis Olaki started but got booked in the 26th minute before he was substituted in the 29th minute as their Buildcon FC side beat Lusaka Dynamos 3-1 at home.
