The governor of South Susan’s Unity State Joseph Nguen Manytuil Wijang has suspended the state communication minister without purportedly offering answers as to why the minister was removed.
Minister Gabriel Makuei Bol stated he has been suspended by the governor and has not been notified why he was suspended, adding that his automobile was taken.
“I was suspended yesterday (Thursday) by the governor. I do not know why but the letter I received only mentioned suspension. There was no rationale at all, simply an order declaring suspension. The conclusion is that I should discontinue my activities,” Bol remarked, according to the independent Radio Tamazuj.
“My automobile was taken twice by his (governor’s) office but I do not know the cause for it. I did not respond to the signs that led him to seize my automobile to be imprisoned 2-3 days till this suspension took place,” he stated.
The top Unity state official further added that there had been rumors circulating in Bentiu that he supported Taban Deng Gai and that this could be the reason why he was banned.
The second rumor, which I did not hear from his lips, is that I am a fan of Gen. Taban Deng Gai and am occasionally told that the minister of information is glad because his community is in severe need of food aid and the governor is not serious. These are the rumors I received from his close associates, and that is what drove him to act on this, ”Bol stated.
While stating there is no such infraction he has committed in his employment, he claimed he has consented to be suspended.
“You know in this interim administration, we are being appointed by the president of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit nominated by the governor as the SPLM chairman in the state,” Bol stated.
“So, I respect my suspension and I am remaining at my house and I will be waiting for the next step because I am not relieved. I am only suspended from my responsibilities and I am living at my house for now,” he continued.
Last month, Unity State Governor Dr. Monytuil Wejang suspended the minister of health, Stephen Riek, and the commissioner of Rubkona County, Gatluak Whicar. The latter was on Thursday, reinstalled.
