Why NAS Points Fingers Towards Kiir And SSPDF

The leadership of the National Salvation Front (NAS) in a press release dated February 28th, 2023 pinpointed president Salva Kiir Mayardit and his security forces for the recent security activities in Mundri Area Command of Western Equatoria State.
According to the NAS spokesperson, Suba Samuel Manase, the NAS intelligence under Mundri Area Command intercepted activities and movements of the Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), National Security and some war brokers planning to infiltrate their ranks and files with the objectives to cause confusion and defections of the forces in the area.
Manase also narrates a scenario where their enemy force in a convoy of three land cruisers crossed into NAS control area which resulted in heavy fighting and defeat of the SSPDF, National Security Force, and others from the area.
“In the counter operation, the enemy lost 13 soldiers including the traitor, 10 AK 47 rifles recovered in good condition, and 2 land cruisers destroyed”, he said.
The spokesperson says that the operation serves as a lesson and a warning to those masquerading and always survive on the blood of the suffering people as peace brokers; their actions of collaborating with security agencies in helping them to oppress and enslave the poor people will not be tolerated.
“For the regime of Salva Kiir and its Security forces, NAS would like to tell you that there is neither a shortcut for peace nor peace through back door but rather through a genuine discussion to resolve the root causes of the conflict to achieve sustainable and dignified peace in the country.
Manase concludes by warning their opponents stating that NAS Forces in Mundri and Western Equatoria State, in general, are watching and monitoring the dirty games of president Kiir’s regime very closely.
