Youths demand an end to the army’s arbitrary arrests in Bentiu PoC.

The youth forum’s leadership has criticized army troops’ widespread arrest and child adaptation in IDP camps.
According to a press statement obtained by NCMP, as well as a publication by some South Sudanese media sources, there is a need for adequate documentation and reporting of concerns involving IDP adolescents. In addition, the young forum urges adequate follow-up.
At least 10 youths are alleged to have gone missing from the Bentiu Protection of Civilians camp in Unity State under strange circumstances.
The youths have accused SSPDF and SPLA-IO soldiers of unlawfully removing them from the camp via their forum. According to an Eye Radio report obtained by NCMP, the SPLA-IO disputed the allegations totally, and the SSPDF agreed to look into the subject further.
“We call on the legal authorities to take precautions in stopping the concern by the youths in the IDP camp, as it has been ongoing for a couple of weeks; we also call on peace mediators and media outlets to investigate the authorities’ concern in order for the authorities to be aware of the evil practice exerted on the communities living in IDP camp Bentiu.”
‘Pupils and students are being moved to unknown destinations without their parents’ knowledge.
“We’ve had a lot of problems with youths during the previous two weeks.” “Some have been detained, while others have been kidnaped and brought to other places,” Bolis claimed.
“The Youth Forum is made up of thirty-two groups, and it was founded in 2016 to advocate on issues affecting youth in the IDP camp.
